Bahama Steamed Pork Chops

Bahamian Steam Sauce is hands down one of the world’s best tomato-based

homestyle dishes. Island Gurl Bahama Steam Sauce is paradise in a bottle, perfect for achieving mouth-watering, delectable 30-minute meals. 

Serves 4

4 bone-in pork loin chops (about ¾-inch/2 cm thick)

¼ cup (60 mL) red wine or cider vinegar

Island Gurl Seasoned Salt to taste

½ tsp (2 mL) black pepper

¼ cup (60 mL) vegetable oil

½ medium onion, sliced

½ each sweet red, yellow and green peppers, sliced

1 bottle (370 mL) Island Gurl Bahama Steam Sauce

¼ cup water

1 Tbsp (15 mL) green onions, sliced or diced parsley, for garnishing 

 

  1. Rinse pork chops and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Pour vinegar over meat and sprinkle with seasoned salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add meat in batches of two and sear on both sides for 3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels.
  4. Add onion, peppers and sauté for 3 minutes or until onions are translucent. 
  5. Add sauce, water, bring to a boil, add meat and reduce to medium heat and simmer. Cover with a lid slightly ajar and cook for approximately 15-20 minutes until done and juices run clear.
  6. Serve with mashed potatoes and smothered with sauce, peppers and garnished with green onions or parsley.
